Over his career, Mason Wade has established a wide range of contacts in both the military and intelligence areas of the U.S. Government.   Below are his closest and most powerful allies who are not blood relatives.

Colonel Jack Greenwood

• Jack Greenwood and Mason Wade served together in the U.S. Army Rangers as well as Delta Force.  For most of Mason’s career, Greenwood was his next commanding officer, and the two quickly became the best of friends.  When Mason refers to the “Iraqi Incident,” he is talking about the time when he disobeyed orders and saved Greenwood’s life.  The incident forever changed both of their lives.
• Greenwood is an interesting person.  He is a hardcore soldier but also a very smart businessman and leader.  After leaving Delta, he formed Greenwood Services, a private military organization.  Greenwood Services is significantly different than most other PMOs that work for the Federal Government.  Greenwood only hires the best – typically only SPECOPS veterans – and only takes the covert missions. He is closely aligned with USSOCOM and the CIA.
• Greenwood is also incredibly wealthy.  He inherited billions from both his mother’s family and his father’s family.  He is secretive, hard-charging, and brutal when he has to be.  He views Mason as a “brother from another mother” and will do anything to help him.  He is also a West Point graduate.

General William F. Hallstead

• William Hallstead is a Brigadier General assigned to USSOCOM.  He has a long history of commanding special operations forces since he joined Delta many years ago.  He is a graduate of West Point and is considered to be next in line as the Commander, United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
• Hallstead is the mentor for both Mason and Greenwood when they all served in the Rangers and Delta.  The three of them are a tight-knit group.   Hallstead has a special relationship with Mason and treats him like a son. He is forever Mason’s guardian angel, watching over him and trying to keep him out of trouble.

Gail Whitehead

• Gail Whitehead is Mason’s boss at the CIA and Deputy Chief, Special Activities Center, formerly known as the Special Activities Division (SAD).  Gail has a unique history and career at the CIA. Her father was American, and her mother was British, so she has dual citizenship.  Gail grew up in the UK, but joined the U.S. Army as soon as she graduated from college.  She spent most of her time in intelligence and Special Operations before joining the CIA.  She can be a bit of an enigma.  Her life is her work as she has no spouse and no living family members. She comes across as cold and direct to most of her peers, but she has a warm spot for Mason.

Leland Richard Thomas

• Leland Thomas is the ally that Mason doesn’t know he has.  Thomas is the Deputy Director of the CIA.  He is the operations guy for the CIA.  He doesn’t care about politics or climbing to the highest post.  He enjoys being the “behind the scenes” leader.  Thomas is smart and pays attention to an infinite number of details throughout the agency. Frequently, he gets intimately involved in Special Operations Center activities and manages a number of special programs for the Director.  One of those special programs is Gail Whitehead’s team.  Mason doesn’t have a direct relationship with Thomas, but Thomas knows all about Mason due to his closeness with Whitehead.  Mason is the very tip of Thomas’s operational spear.
