Wade Family Introduction
- The Origins: The family’s legacy begins with its patriarch, Obadiah James Wade. A Confederate veteran of the American Civil War, Obadiah survived the brutal conflict only to find he had nothing left to return to. His family’s farm in Georgia had been reduced to ashes, and the state was under strict Federal occupation.
- A New Beginning: Determined to leave the bloodshed behind and start over, Obadiah chose to look west. In 1868, he and his new wife packed up what little they had and traveled to the territory of Idaho. There, they staked their claim and built the sprawling Wade family ranch.
- The Generational Line: That single decision to seek a better life established a family tree that now spans seven generations. The grit required to carve a life out of the Idaho frontier was passed down directly from Obadiah to his son, Ransom Victor. From there, the lineage flows unbroken through James Mason, Noah Lee, and Victor Mason, eventually reaching two brothers: Elrod Victor and Chester Mason, and their descendants.
- The Modern Era: Today, the Wade clan is well established and respected in Valley County, Idaho. In addition to being 7th and 8th generation ranchers, they are a family of military veterans with nearly everyone serving in one of the branches of the U.S. military at some point. They are a hardy, self-reliant group grounded in patriotic service and deep-rooted family loyalty.
